Bio-physical and molecular basisModule Applied biology
Academic Year 2023/2024 - Teacher: ROSALIA BATTAGLIAExpected Learning Outcomes
The purpose of the course is to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the fundamental cellular processes that regulate the activities of living organisms. The main objectives include understanding cellular differentiation mechanisms, trait transmission, DNA replication, transcription, translation, and genetic information modification. By the end of the course, students should be able to apply this biological and molecular knowledge to comprehend how eukaryotic cells function under both normal and pathological conditions.
Course Structure
The course is structured as frontal lessons. However, if teaching needs to be conducted in a blended or remote mode, necessary adjustments may be introduced to ensure that the planned program outlined in the syllabus is still adhered to.
Required Prerequisites
Knowledge of the key cellular processes.

Learning Assessment
Learning Assessment Procedures
Oral exam. Elements to be evaluated: relevance of the answers, quality of their contents, ability to connect with other topics within the program, ability to report examples, quality of technical language, and overall expressive ability.
To guarantee equal opportunities and in compliance with current laws, students can request a meeting in order to plan any compensatory and/or dispensatory measure, according to the educational goals and specific needs. In this case, it is advisable to contact the CInAP (Centre for Active and Participated Integration - Services for Disabilities and/or SLD) professor of the Department where the Degree Course is included
Examples of frequently asked questions and / or exercises
Transcription, Structure and function of the plasma membrane, DNA replication, gametogenesis.
