Le linee di ricerca, condotte grazie alla partecipazione a vari progetti di ricerca nazionali ed internazionali, interessano studi principalmente nell’ambito della neurochimica e neurobiologia, negli ultimi anni affrontati su modelli in coltura cellulare. Particolare attenzione è stata ed è rivolta ai meccanismi molecolari dei processi di invecchiamento e delle patologie ad essi correlate (neurodegenerazione, tumore) attraverso classici approcci biochimici e biologico molecolari. Le alterazioni conformazionali proteiche, le disfunzioni mitocondriali, la disomeostasi del rame, le modificazioni dell’espressione di varie proteine chiave, la valutazione degli effetti neuroprotettivi di alcuni peptidi bioattivi (o altre molecole) disegnati ad hoc e infine lo studio di specifiche vie di trasduzione del segnale cellulare, rappresentano l’oggetto più comune degli studi effettuati ed attualmente in corso.
