Expected Learning Outcomes

At the end of the module, the student will be able to understand the proper use of active pharmaceutical ingredients in accordance with their therapeutic indications and routes of administration; recognize the side effects of the most significant drugs used in medical practice and the main classes of drugs used in sports, subject to usage restrictions.

Required Prerequisites

Knowledge of the physiology and pathophysiology of the main organs and systems.

Detailed Course Content

The PHARMACOLOGY course provides students with training on the general principles of pharmacology and phases pharmacokinetics, including routes of administration, mechanisms of drug absorption, distribution, metabolism, and elimination on the most significant classes of drugs used for the most common heart, lung, and central nervous system diseases, which are closely related to Sports Science, and on the main classes of drugs used in sports and subject to usage restrictions, which constitute doping.
