Cristina Barbagallo
Cristina Barbagallo has been a Tenure Track Researcher in Experimental Biology since October 2025. She received her PhD in Translational Biomedicine in 2017 and the national scientific qualification as Associate Professor in Experimental Biology (BIOS/10-A) in 2023. Since 2012, she has been part of the Biology, Genetics and Bioinformatics Unit and has focused her research on oncology, with a particular interest in non-coding RNAs and their involvement in cellular processes associated with disease progression. The main focus of her research is the molecular mechanism of action of long non-coding RNAs and microRNAs in the regulation of pathological processes. She has authored over 50 peer-reviewed articles published in international scientific journals (https://www.scopus.com/authid/detail.uri?authorId=56734293400). She is a member of the Italian Association of General and Molecular Biology and Genetics (A.I.B.G.), which awarded her the Guido Tarone Prize for Young Researchers in 2018.
