PRODUZIONI ANIMALI E BIODIVERSITA' ZOOTECNICA
Academic Year 2022/2023 - Teacher: DONATA MARLETTAExpected Learning Outcomes
The student acquires knowledge relating to the classification of livestock systems, animal productions and their genetic improvement, the use of some biotechnologies to exploite biodiversity and to improve the quality of products of animal origin.
Course Structure
Lectures. During each lesson the participation of students will be solicited and they will be invited to interact with each other and with the teacher with questions, curiosities and comments.
If teaching is given in a mixed formula or remotely, necessary changes may be introduced to what was previously stated in order to comply with the provided and reported syllabus.
Information for students with disabilities and / or SLD:
To guarantee equal opportunities and in compliance with the laws in force, interested students can ask for a personal interview in order to plan any compensatory and / or dispensatory measures, based on the teaching objectives and specifications needs. It is also possible to contact the CInAP contact person (Center for Active and Participatory Integration - Services for Disabilities and / or SLD) of the Department of Biomedical and Biotechonological Sciences.

Learning Assessment
Learning Assessment Procedures
Oral exam.
The exam will begin with the presentation of a short paper in the form of a
short power point presentation, of 10-12 slides, on a topic of the program chosen
by the candidate and agreed with the teacher. The exam will proceed
with questions on the remaining parts of the program.
The relevance of the answers to the questions asked, the
quality of the contents, the ability to connect with other topics covered by
the program, the technical language properties and the overall expressive
ability of the student will be assessed.
Verification of
learning can also be carried out electronically, should the conditions require
it.
Examples of frequently asked questions and / or exercises
Intensive and extensive farming systems.
Quality of milk and meat in species and breeds.
Native breeds and cosmopolitan breeds.
Monobreed products and quality brands.
Main evaluation tests of breeding stock.
Prevention and diagnosis of the main genetic diseases.
Molecular markers for genome analysis.
Enhancement and conservation of livestock biodiversity.
Genetic improvement of the quality and nutritional value of foods of animal origin.
