CITOGENETICA E ASPETTI BIOLOGICI DELLA DIAGNOSI PREIMPIANTO E PRENATALE
Module ASPETTI BIOLOGICI DELLA DIAGNOSI PREIMPIANTO E PRENATALE

Academic Year 2023/2024 - Teacher: ROSALIA BATTAGLIA

Expected Learning Outcomes

At the end of the course, the student should have acquired a deep understanding of the biological and molecular aspects related to gametogenesis and pre-implantation embryonic development, as well as the main technologies used in the field of Medically Assisted Procreation (PMA) for conducting pre-implantation genetic diagnosis (PGD).

Course Structure

The course is structured as frontal lessons and practice. However, if teaching needs to be conducted in a blended or remote mode, necessary adjustments may be introduced to ensure that the planned program outlined in the syllabus is still adhered to.

Required Prerequisites

Fundamentals of biology and genetics.

Attendance of Lessons

Recommended.

Learning Assessment

Learning Assessment Procedures

Oral exam.

Elements to be evaluated: relevance of the answers, quality of their contents, ability to connect with other topics within the program, ability to report examples, quality of technical language, and overall expressive ability.

To guarantee equal opportunities and in compliance with current laws, students can request a meeting in order to plan any compensatory and/or dispensatory measure, according to educational goals and specific needs. In this case, it is advisable to contact the CInAP (Centre for Active and Participated Integration - Services for Disabilities and/or SLD) professor of the Department where the Degree Course is included.

Examples of frequently asked questions and / or exercises

Invasive methods for evaluating embryonic quality. Techniques for identifying aneuploidies in human blastocysts. Micromanipulation and preservation of gametes and embryos
