TEORIA TECNICA E METODICA DEL TENNIS 1

Academic Year 2025/2026 - Teacher: FILIPPO BERTONE

Expected Learning Outcomes

Knowledge: Understand biomechanics, methodological models, and epistemology applied to sports.

Applied skills: Execute and teach the full technical progression: groundstrokes, starting strokes, net play, and special shots, correctly managing angles and trajectories.

Judgement: Critically analyze stroke biomechanics and psychological dynamics in athletes.

Communication: Use coaching and the "agreement frame" for instructional management.

Learning: Design SMART goals integrating emotional and cognitive skills with tactical choices based on angles

Course Structure

The course consists of a total of 31 hours and is structured in an integrated manner. A theoretical-methodological part will be conducted in the classroom through lectures supported by multimedia presentations. The main part of the course (24 hours) will take place on court in the form of practical individual and pair drills, focusing on learning and teaching the technical stroke progression and tactical game management.

Required Prerequisites

There are no formal prerequisites. Knowledge of technical rules and basic geometry applied to the tennis court is recommended to facilitate the understanding of angles and biomechanics.

Attendance of Lessons

Attendance for the total 31 hours of the course is mandatory. Regular students are required to attend at least 70% of the total hours. For students with "working student" status, the attendance requirement is reduced to 50% of the total hours, subject to the submission of the required documentation under University regulations

Detailed Course Content

Methodological and Psychological Module: Epistemology (Descartes/Popper), teaching methods, coaching, SMART goals, motivation, and coping strategies.

Biomechanical Module: Forces, mobility, and geometric study of angles in tennis.

Practical Module (Technique and Tactics):

Groundstrokes: Forehand and backhand.

Game start: Service and return.

Net play: Volley and overhead smash.

Special shots: Smash off the bounce, drop shot.

Advanced Tactics: Angle management (cross-court and down-the-line), rotations, spins, and professional game analysis.

Learning Assessment

Learning Assessment Procedures

Oral Exam with multimedia support: The student must present and discuss a PowerPoint project exploring the methodological, psychological, and epistemological topics covered (SMART goals, teaching methods, defense mechanisms, etc.).

Technical Pair Test: Practical on-court verification of the instructional progression of fundamentals. The student must demonstrate correct execution and the ability to teach groundstrokes (forehand/backhand), starting strokes (service/return), net play (volley/smash), and special shots (drop shot), with specific focus on managing angles and trajectories.
