TEORIA, TECNICA E METODICA DELLA GINNASTICA FUNZIONALE 1

Academic Year 2025/2026 - Teacher: GIOVANNI GIUSTINO

Expected Learning Outcomes

Learning Outcomes

Ability to plan a functional training protocol tailored to the athlete's specific needs. Ability to use and analyze functional assessment tests to identify any physical limitations, muscular imbalances, and/or postural defects to personalize and make training more efficient. Develop independent judgment. Develop communication skills. Knowledge of the main exercises and execution techniques, with particular attention to demonstration and corrective focus. Ability to link exercises together in a functional circuit and recognize the prerequisites for their rational progression. Knowledge and use of the main equipment.

Course Structure

Lectures and theoretical-practical discussions, in-depth seminars, cooperative teaching (student-teacher) through the sharing of teaching materials and multimedia supports.

Information for students with disabilities and / or SLD: To guarantee equal opportunities and in compliance with the laws in force, interested students can ask for a personal interview in order to plan any compensatory and / or dispensatory measures, based on the teaching objectives and specifications needs. It is also possible to contact the CInAP contact person (Center for Active and Participatory Integration - Services for Disabilities and / or SLD) of the department.

Learning Assessment

Learning Assessment Procedures

Project work (“learning by doing”)

The exam consists of a group project, which will develop functional training, integrating theoretical knowledge with practical application.

The project will be sent to the professor via email in PowerPoint format (maximum 24 slides) days before the exam. Each group will consist of a maximum of 6 members. Students will have a total of 30 minutes for presentation and demonstration (5 minutes each, maximum 4 slides each). At the end of the presentation, the instructor may ask questions to clarify the points covered (no more than one or two for each student). This exam will assess:

i) the level of general knowledge and understanding of the topic;

ii) the ability to apply this knowledge to solve specific problems and develop independent judgment;

iii) clarity of presentation;

iv) mastering of technical and scientific language.

Information for students with disabilities and / or SLD: To guarantee equal opportunities and in compliance with the laws in force, interested students can ask for a personal interview in order to plan any compensatory and / or dispensatory measures, based on the teaching objectives and specifications needs. Examples of frequently asked questions and / or exercises

- What is Functional Gymnastics based on?

- Why do we perform a functional assessment?

- Describe the squat test.

- Criteria for linking exercises in a functional circuit.

- Demonstrate an exercise (e.g., a kettlebell lunge), highlighting corrective focuses.
