MOLECULAR MICROBIOLOGY AND CLINICAL MICROBIOLOGY
Module MOLECULAR MICROBIOLOGY APPLIED TO MEDICINE

Academic Year 2025/2026 - Teacher: VIVIANA CAFISO

Expected Learning Outcomes

The course provides advanced skills in microbiology and molecular biology of microorganisms. The course explores the phylogeny, identification, and typing of microorganisms; the molecular mechanisms of host-microorganism interaction, pathogenicity, and virulence; the action and resistance to antibiotics, with a focus on diagnosis and the study of antimicrobial resistance. Students will learn molecular technologies to identify pathogens and assess their resistance to antibiotics, including PCR, genomic sequencing, and real-time qPCR.
