Expected Learning Outcomes

The Course aims to convey to the student the knowledge and understanding of the etiological, pathophysiological and clinical bases of cardiovascular disease, along with technical aspects of laboratory, imaging and functional diagnostics.

Detailed Course Content

CARDIAC ARRHYTHMIAS

Bradyarrhythmias: normal activation of the heart. Conduction disorders. Physical activity in patients with cardiac conduction abnormalities and those with pace-maker; Electrocardiogram in the athlete's heart.

Tachyarrhythmias: Mechanisms of arrhythmias. Classification of arrhythmias. Supraventricular arrhythmias. Ventricular arrhythmias; Implantable defibrillator. Physical activity in patients with tachyarrhythmias and in those with implantable defibrillator. Ventricular pre-excitation; Physical activity in patients with ventricular pre-excitation; Ablation of tachyarrhythmias; Sudden death in athletes.

CARDIOMYOPATHIES

ATHLETE'S HEART

VALVE DISEASE: mitral stenosis ad regurgitation. Mitral valve prolapse; Aortic stenosis and regurgitation. Physical activity and sport eligibility criteria in patients with valvular heart disease or operated.

HEART FAILURE: Pathophysiology and diagnosis; Physical activity in patients with heart failure; Cardiovascular rehabilitation in patients with heart failure

ISCHEMIC HEART DISEASE: Role of physical activity in the prevention of ischemic heart disease; Chronic ischemic heart disease; Acute ischemic heart disease; Procedures for the implementation and results of rehabilitation in post-myocardial infarction
