Expected Learning Outcomes

The purpose of the course is to teach students  notions relating to cognitive rehabilitation and the rehabilitation techniques used in the field of neuropsychiatry.

Lectures with presentation of clinical cases. Possible use of audiovisual media

Required Prerequisites

good knowledge of basic biological subjects, neuropsychiatric subjects and the basics of occupational therapy

Attendance of Lessons

Attendance at the training activity is obligatory within the limits of at least 70% of the frontal teaching activity of each course and at least 50% of each individual course module.

Detailed Course Content

Definition of disability and its evolution in history - Physical, social and psychological barriers. - Figures involved in disability. - Types of disability: mental, sensory and physical-motor. - Functional diagnosis and integrated intervention. Difference between illness and disease. - Empowerment, Coping and Quality of Life concepts. - Psychology in disability. Psychological reactions on a personal, family and social level. - Adaptation processes: the main defense mechanisms. Relational aspects. - Planning of interventions and teaching of skills (integral skills). Integration into the community. - Neuropsychiatric and rehabilitative methods
