Expected Learning Outcomes

Knowledge and understanding
At the end of the course, students will be able to know and understand the fundamental principles of human nutrition, the main characteristics of foods and nutrients, and the related processes of digestion, absorption and metabolism. Students will also acquire knowledge of the nutritional requirements of physically active individuals and athletes, hydration and the main aspects of sports supplementation.

Applying knowledge and understanding
Students will be able to apply the acquired knowledge to the assessment of nutritional requirements related to sports practice and to identify appropriate dietary and hydration strategies according to the type, intensity and duration of physical activity.

Making judgements
Students will be able to critically evaluate the main nutritional recommendations and supplementation strategies used in sports, taking into account individual characteristics, the type of physical activity and the available scientific evidence.

Communication skills
Students will be able to describe and discuss the main aspects of sports nutrition using appropriate scientific terminology and to clearly communicate dietary and nutritional recommendations.

Learning skills
Students will be able to independently further their knowledge of sports nutrition through the consultation of textbooks, guidelines and scientific literature and to progressively update their knowledge in this field.
