She graduated in Medicine (1983) and specialized in Endocrinology (1986) and spent time in the USA as a Research Associate first at the University of Virginia, Charlottesville (1985-86) and then at the University of Maryland, Baltimore (1987-88). She returned to the USA as a Visiting Scientist at the Center for Endocrinology, Metabolism and Molecular Medicine at Northwestern University, Chicago in 1995. She has served as Technical Associate (1991-94), Research Fellow in Pharmacology (1994-2001) and Associate Professor of Pharmacology (2001-03). From 2004 to the present, she is Full Professor of Pharmacology. She has been Deputy Director and from 2006 to present is Director of the School of Pharmacology Specialization at the University of Catania; Member of the Equal Opportunity Committee of the University of Catania (2003-09); Regional Coordinator of the Italian Society of Pharmacology - Sicily Region (2006-08); Member of the Ethics Committee of the Policlinico - Vittorio Emanuele University Hospital (2007-14). He is a lecturer of General Pharmacology and Special Pharmacology courses and is currently lecturer of Clinical Pharmacology for the CdL in Medicine. He has also lectured or is lecturing for the Biomolecular Chemistry Master's Degree Course and the Bachelor's Degree Courses in Audiometric Sciences, Hearing Aid Sciences and Dental Hygiene.
